Leaky Gut Update #5

Well as you all know I have been dealing with leaky gut issues for a few months now, as i mentioned in my previous post the aim was to kill or reduce the klebsiella overgrowth in my gut which was causing food intolorance, malabsorption, mood changes etc etc.

I tried using Golden Seal however according to my new stool test it didnt even make a dent in the numbers and they are staying the same. My naturepath was a bit surprised they didnt come down. They suggested Metagenics Parex as a trial now to see how that goes. Also I was unable to tolerate Metagenics Gtox and I am unable to tolerate EnergyX anymore either because i would feel so weird in the head and like i would faint. I was then given Metagenics Glutagenics to trial however I was unable to tolerate this either due to rapid heartbeat and weird chest sensations. My immune system seems to be very sensitive at the moment. We wanted to find out why I couldnt tolerate the products and I did a hair mineral analysis test which showed i had higher level of potassium and sodium in my system which was quite stimulating. Those products contained them. I was then swapped to another product Biomedica Enterocare which contains prebiotics, probiotics, slippery elm and glutamine which i could tolerate fine. My hair mineral report showed i also have some adrenal fatigue and to support the adrenals i was given metagenics thyrocalm to trial.

Of course this whole situation would be making me feel anxious, going already for a few months, my diet staying the same and klebsiella numbers not reducing. Is Metagenics Parex the next solution? This bacteria is so complicated and hard to remove as they create biofilms and become resistant to treatments overtime as i read online.  So now its April and ive still not managed to progress to kill or reduce this overgrowth. Its giving me anxiety, its hard to socialise, hard to think, taking always supplements, not to mention a crazy appetite with a hunger for meat and meat or my body feels weak. Every meal consists of meat, rice, vegetables.  I look at myself a year ago to now and i feel completly different, like somone else is living inside me or controlling me. People say I look fine on the outside but on the inside im suffering.

The naturopath advised they will call the head of stool analysis and discuss my case in further detail, im hoping they have some solution.

Maybe somone online has some tips on removing klebsiella overgrowth and what they did? There has to be a way to remove this beast im just overwhelmed by how complex this is becoming.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please comment and let me know.

Leaky Gut – Update #4

Hi All,

As you may have been reading I have been recovering of an infection after an overgrowth of Klebsiella in the gut, causing all kinds of issues.

Im happy to say I am feeling better now with more energy with taking the previous supplements mentioned. I am still yet to take the final 60 tablets of Goldenseal which I will begin. The plan is to use Goldenseal in the morning and afternoon, then have at least 4 hour break and use Probiotics (Metagenics Ultra Flora Restore) after dinner and before bed as well as rest of the supplements in my earlier posts.

Another addition to my supplementation is the addition of Metagenics G-Tox Express for 2 weeks to help with healing the leaky gut after the damage caused, as well as give more energy, as this contains glutamine.

Another thing i forgot to mention is my diet is purely dairy free, soy free, yeast free. I am only eating organic meat, with vegetables and either rice, potato or sweet potato, and rice bread what is on my allowed food list which i do not have any reaction to as well as an occasional piece of fruit. Also lots of seeds, and nuts and oils that i can have at the moment, almonds, pepita seeds, pine nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, grape seed oil etc.

I plan to reintroduce some of the foods in column 1 which i was advised to avoid for 3 months very soon from my ImmuPro 300 test in about 3-4 weeks time while i complete golden seal and gtox express.

After this I will have another stool test to determine if klebsiella is being picked up, and hoping the quantity will be significantly less or completely removed.

This is a very very long process, and I hope no one has to go through this, but at least I am getting somewhere and hoping to make this recovery quick and kick out klebsiella as its a bastard to deal with!!

What is Klebsiella?

Klebsiella (klebsiella spp) is a bacteria which recently I myself have been infected with.  It is an important cause of nonsocomial infections. The organism is surrounded by a capsule which is reflected by the characteristic mucoid colonies, enhancing their resistance to adverse conditions and antibiotics.

Klebsiella infection is associated with reactive arthritis and known to cross react with the HLA-B27 antigen in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis. It is proposed that antibodies are produced by the body to neutralise the antigens produced by Klebsiella. These antibody/ immune complexes may be absorbed through the lining of the kidney, liver, and lymphatic systems. In some individuals this results in inflammatory responses in any joint, producing the inflammation, pain, deformity and other symptoms of AS.

Klebsiella is also common in urinary tract infections and thrives in individuals on a high starch diet.  This is why I am also reducing my diet in less starch and sugar as I believe this will further feed them, and taking the Metagenics Matrix Protect AI with hops and phellodendron, with zinc and selenium to prevent the autoimmune issues from developing and putting a stop to it. It is also believed that fructooligosacchrides (FOS) may feed this bacteria which includes food as onions, asparagus, oats, beer, bananas, rye, chicory root, leeks, tomato, burdock

Natural  Treatments for Klebsiella and elimination include – Golden Seal, Garlic, Citrus Seed Extract

Pharmaceutical considerations appear not to be effective as this species is resistant to multiple antibiotics.

Well there you have it.. hope this provides some further information about it, as I am keen to eliminate this beast!
